Judy - Just a Puppy

It was Rosemary who wanted a dog, but she didn’t get one until she was heard to complain about “not allowed to have a pet” to her Aunt Win while on a visit to Wanstead. Soon afterwards her father Leslie and brother Malcolm drove to Blackwater to inspect a brood of Shetland Sheepdog puppies. Malcolm picked the one with the cutest looks; she had a slightly shorter nose than the rest of the brood; a feature that apparently marked her out as not likely to win any prizes at competitions, but we didn’t care. Five pounds changed hands and Judy sat in the palm of Malcolm’s hand on the journey home and was promptly sick all over it. However she proved to be a good natured dog, who loved to pose for photographs; just look at the number of appearances she makes on other pages, ramble in the woods and along the Basingstoke Canal banks, only occasionally falling into it, and despite a love of biscuits and chocolates lived to be about 15 years old.
