A visit to the BT Tower
At the beginning of 2004 an opportunity arose to visit the BT Tower for lunch on 20th March.
Olive turned down the invitation which was a shame as it was a great day out despite near
constant rain doing its best to ruin the view.
It is possible to
climb the stairs
but its easier to be whisked up to the 34th floor by lift.
The view is amazing and one can pick out landmarks throughout London. On a clear day the view
extends into the Home Counties.
On the left some familiar landmarks. The Shell Centre; fifty years ago the tallest building in
London and The London Eye built to celebrate the millennium. A buffet lunch was served and the tower
rotated once every 22 minutes. Despite the height and the gales blowing outside no one got giddy or
sick.
