East Ham

Gladys Knight at her front door - April 1960.
Gladys Knight at Springfield Road
Gladys moved her family to East Ham in 1941 after the house in Ripley Road she had occupied with Olive and Leslie since 1932 was bombed twice within a week and it has remained in family ownership continuously since then. While the whole family was living in London the house was where they gathered on alternate weekends for Sunday dinners (either roast beef or curries which Gladys had perfected whilst living in Burma as a young housewife).
