Our Good Friends, the Macks
When the Knight family moved to
67 Twelve Acre Crescent they found John Mack moving into No. 69 next door,
his family followed him a few weeks later. By a strange
coincidence they had previously lived in a turning off of Lea Bridge Road in
Leyton as did the Knights. This was a good basis for friendship in a new environment and not only
did the children spend their days playing, many evenings were spent together being entertained by
board games, musical performances, Punch & Judy and model trains.
Joint motor trips to the country and seaside were commonplace but in
January 1956 the Macks moved to a new house near Farnham
which made daily contact impossible but we nevertheless kept in touch by car or bicycle.
