Burma Bound
The passenger list for the 20th December 1919 sailing of the SS. Burma. The ship
carried 118 passengers, four of whom were infants and 17 children below the age of 13. Its master was James Mitchell.
The reason for the Knight names being crossed through is unknown although family records suggest the
passage was not First Class as indicated below. It is possible that Alfred worked his passage as he
was a qualified ships engineer and had been employed as Petty Officer elsewhere. What is certain is
that the family travelled to Rangoon on the
S.S. Burma and given the time it would
take to get to its destination and back, other records show that they could not have been on either an earlier or later sailing.
