Olive’s Eighty Seventh Birthday

Saturday 9th June 2007

Find Olive in the family tree
We arranged to meet at the Festival Hall which Olive was keen to see on the day it re-opened after refurbishment.
Rosemary, Ian, Alastair, Iain, Kirsteen and Malcolm were all there.
We tried to buy coffee in the Festival Hall but they told us there wasn’t any. This was untrue and we sat in the rather spartan cafeteria which not only showed no sign of refurbishment but no sign of having been cleaned since we were last there. After resting our feet from the humid heat we took the tube to Camden Town and after hurrying past the market area found refuge in a cool pub alongside the Regent’s Canal.
Regent’s Park was only a short walk away so we took an easy stroll along the towpath.
The men tended to get ahead. After reaching the park we took a very uncomfortable bus to Islington where we took yet another rest at a pavement café.
A pleasant day overall.
