Alfred Robert Knight

Early Days

When Alfred first arrived on the Indian sub-continent is unknown; it is not impossible that he was born there. His daughter Olive believes that her grandfather was involved in building the Indian railway system but all we know for sure is that he died in Bombay and that his son Alfred was a railway engine driver from 1889 when he was no more than 16 or 17 years old.
