Bury Hill, Potton, Bedfordshire

See front of postcard
Leslie Knight was billeted with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis at their home in Potton. They were a kindly couple who invited Leslie’s wife and child to stay with them during the height of the flying bomb attacks on London. This almost certainly saved their lives as the night after they made the train journey a V1 destroyed their home in York Road, Leyton.
As the postcard below will confirm, Leslie and his family continued to visit the Dennis’s until their deaths in the early 1960s.

Message on postcard
“Having a nice time, weather lovely today but very windy up this hill. The children have found friends. Rosemary is learning to ride a bike. Mr. Dennis is on holiday, good company for Les. Going to Bedford tomorrow to see Eileen. Love from us all, Vera & Les.”
