Kirsteen in the papers

The Gilmour School of Dancing presents ‘The Flower Children’ at Aldershot’s Princes Hall.

There is unfortunately no clue to the date of this cutting except that the reverse includes an astrology chart in which Virgo (August/September) is highlighted.
Kirsty won a scholarship to The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and took part in a number of their productions including that of a musical version of Scrooge at The Hackney Empire.

A small modelling job resulted in Kirsty’s foot appearing in an advertisement for Ravel shoes.

1988
While studying at the Italia Conti Academy Kirsty began to suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. The Fleet Mail chronicles her film and stage appearances since then and her ambition to become a presenter for the BBC - something she later achieved.
The Sun devotes a page to Kirsty.

11th October 1990
‘Me’ Magazine includes a two page article.

14th January 1991
The local paper gives top billing to Kirsty’s need for a car.

26th October 1990
Fleet Round Table pays for Kirsty to have driving lessons. Fleet News.

15th February 1991
On Sunday 2nd February 1992 Kirsty’s story was the subject of a short documentary on ITV and she was pictured inside. Click the image to the left to see it.
Kirsty also appeared in a Channel 4 film called ‘
Face of our Fear’. A short video extract is available here.
Kirsty continued to appear on stage despite her disablement but also attempted to get work in television. She occasionally appeared on screen as presenter but eventually decided she was best suited to research and production working on ‘That’s Life’ and in children’s TV. While at the BBC she took time off to get a degree in journalism.
