After experiencing the less than satisfactory maternity skills of Farnham Hospital sufficient strings were pulled second time around to
enable the services of the maternity wing of Aldershot’s military hospital to be sampled - in the officers’ wives’ ward no less. Apart from forecasting another
girl without the benefit of an ultra-sound scan on the dubious evidence that the second baby would be smaller than the first, the Louise Margaret Hospital proved
to be first class; well maybe the visiting hours were a bit limited but then one expected nothing else in 1972. In the event
Iain arrived and at 8 pounds 5 ounces only two pounds
lighter than his sister.
Once out of hospital, among the earliest visitors were
Aunty Win and
Uncle Ken and their daughter
Alison.
